Why I start each client coaching journey with understanding their core values!

Core values play a crucial role in goal setting as they provide a foundation and guide for the goals we set. Here are some reasons why core values are important in goal setting:

1. Alignment: Core values help ensure that our goals are aligned with our beliefs, principles, and what truly matters to us. When our goals are in line with our core values, we are more likely to feel motivated, fulfilled, and committed to achieving them.

2. Clarity: Core values provide clarity and direction in goal setting. They help us identify what is truly important to us and what we want to prioritise in our lives. This clarity helps us set meaningful and purposeful goals that are in line with our values.

3. Prioritisation: Core values help us prioritize our goals. When we have a clear understanding of our values, we can evaluate and prioritise our goals based on what aligns with our values the most. This helps us focus our time, energy, and resources on the goals that truly matter to us.

4. Decision-making: Core values act as a compass in decision-making. When faced with choices and opportunities, we can refer to our core values to make decisions that are in line with what we believe in and what we want to achieve. This helps us make decisions that are consistent with our long-term goals and values.

5. Motivation and commitment: When our goals are aligned with our core values, we are more likely to feel motivated and committed to achieving them. Our values provide a sense of purpose and drive, making it easier to stay focused, overcome obstacles, and persevere in the pursuit of our goals.

6. Authenticity: Setting goals that are in line with our core values allows us to be true to ourselves. It helps us live authentically and in accordance with what we believe in. This authenticity brings a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction as we are living a life that is true to who we are.

In summary, core values are essential in goal setting as they provide alignment, clarity, prioritisation, decision-making guidance, motivation, commitment, and authenticity. By incorporating our core values into our goal setting process, we can create goals that are meaningful, purposeful, and in line with what truly matters to us.
