It‘s important to keep the other party’s goal in mind as well as you own. The key is preparation. Outline your ultimate goal but also where you would be willing to compromise and where you wouldn’t! Never allow yourself to be negotiated down to an agreement you aren’t happy with. Don’t be afraid to ask for more time to consider the offer or walk away entirely. Make sure the other person knows how beneficial your offer will be to them and how foolish they’d be to let you walk!
